Thank you for purchasing a flag/banner. All flags and banners are made to the highest possible standards, utilising ‘ozone friendly’ water based and UV stable inks. Please take the time to read the following instructions to properly care for and display your new flag/banner.
Extreme Weather Conditions
Strong winds and rain cause damage to banners and flags of many fabrics. Even all-weather banners will wear and potentially tear faster
in these conditions. It's highly recommended to take the flags/banners down in severe bad weather. It's also important to check them
regularly for damage. Larger flags/banners (1.5m x 4.5m) need to be checked for wear at least once every 3 months. Many companies will buy two sets of flags/banners and rotate them frequently. That way one set can be repaired and cleaned while the other is displayed.
Caring For & Maintaining your Flag/Banner
• Do not store damp flags/banners. They can get moldy and will become harder to wash and repair as time progresses. Allow the
flags/banners to dry and store it in a moisture-proof container.
• If your flag/banner is dirty, you can hand wash it in cold water with mild detergent and allow it to air dry. You can also take it to the dry cleaners. Washing your flag/banner regularly will increase its lifespan by a couple of months on average.
• You can do minor repairs to your flag/banner as long as it’s not noticeable to the viewing public. Flags/Banners in bad condition should be retired and replaced.
• Street/flag poles should be positioned in clear areas where your flags/banners are unable to latch onto branches, wires, hard or rough surfaces, or anything else that may hinder the natural whiplash motion of your flag/banner.
• Your street/flag poles must be kept clean and maintained regularly. Corrosion and rust from the poles will wear down your flag/banner. Rough edges will tear them.
Lifespan of your Flag/Banner
All too often a flag/banner’s lifespan is in the hands of its owner. A knitted polyester (Trilobal) flag/banner will last 3-6 months on average. In some instances this fabric may last 9 months only if it is flown from sunrise to sunset in good weather conditions. Flags/banners flown 24 hours a day will last one half to one third as long. Large flags/banners have a shorter life than smaller ones because they are exposed to higher wind speeds and the fly ends have a stronger whiplash effect. at the end of the day Mother Nature with the wind, rain, UV and all the chemicals and pollutants flying around, eventually take their toll on the fabric flag and banner. In combination is the unknown....so hard to truly predict the life of a flag.
